What to Bring / Gear List

What to bring?

  • A positive attitude
  • Sun Screen?  (We can only hope…)
  • Layered clothing.  Too hot?  Too cold?
  • Footwear:  A sturdy, lace-up, hiking-style boot with good ankle support and a firmly reinforced sole/tread, appropriate for wet/muddy/uneven conditions.  No sandals, slide-ins, or thongs please.  Stability on an uneven/wet/slippery surface is important for everyone’s safety.
  • Lunch? There is no food available nearby.  Please bring a picnic lunch or snack to fortify yourself whilst on the range.  Bring water to stay hydrated.

Gear List:

  • Brimmed ball-cap
  • Eye Protection: Shooting glasses and most every-day eyeglasses are acceptable.
  • Electronic Ear Protection: (electronic ear protection is REQUIRED for your safety & ours. Bring your own…..or we will have quality ear protection for sale or rent.)
  • A Defensive Semi-Automatic handgun chambered in 9mm or greater.
  • Under Special Circumstances, it may be possible to qualify with ammunition lighter than 9mm. Please inquire in advance.
  • If you plan to qualify with a revolver, please contact us ahead of time for further protocols.
  • A minimum of 3 magazines.
  • An average of 200 copper-jacketed (FMJ) … (TMJ) rounds per day.
  • 500 rounds average for all three days.
  • 150 rounds average for Qualification Day only.
  • A sturdy, strong-side, outside-the-waistband holster.
  • A sturdy belt capable of securing your handgun safely.
  • Clothing: Comfortable, layered clothing that will help keep that hot, spent brass casing from slipping under your shirt.  You may prefer a high/snug collar.  We may be on an indoor or outdoor shooting range. Clothing that will keep you warm when it is cool, and cool when it’s warm, and kinda dry when it’s kinda wet. Dressing in layers is usually a good idea.  Gloves can only be worn when you are not handling a firearm.  There is no bad weather….just bad gear.

Ammunition:

  • Only quality, new, factory ammunition.  ABSOLUTELY NO RE-LOAD AMMUNITION of any kind.
  • Qualification ammunition minimum caliber is 9mm for a semi-automatic.  .38 caliber for a revolver.
  • Under Special Circumstances, it may be possible to qualify with ammunition lighter than 9mm. Please inquire in advance.
  • Practice ammunition can be .22lr or greater.
  • Additional/Extra ammo?  Occasionally, we have time & circumstances that allow for additional/extra shootin’.  Not a requirement … just a possibility.
  • We may have ammunition in popular calibers available for purchase at the range.

Gear Rental:

  • If you do not own a firearm you wish to qualify with, we may have rental gear available.  For the best selection, please contact us as early as possible in order to reserve any rental gear.
